On October 31, 2011, the United Nations launched the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC). IYC is intended to raise public awareness of the invaluable contributions of cooperative enterprises to poverty reduction, employment generation and social integration. Community
Heartwood House houses fifteen charitable organizations who come together in the same building to share ideas and resources in order to deliver more efficient and effective services.
Alterna Savings offers a full range of financial products and services, all with a commitment to support the well-being of our members, employees and communities.
Centre 507 is an adult drop-in centre that is open to all who seek a safe place, friendly and supportive environment.
Centretown Community Health Centre has helped ensure all Ottawa residents have access to adequate income, employment, health services, education, food, shelter and transportation.
Somerset West Community Health Centre is a non-profit, community-governed organization that provides primary health care, health promotion and community development services, using interdisciplinary teams of health providers.
United Way, bringing people and resources together to build a strong, healthy, safe community for all. 
Heartwood House collects donations of computer equipment from the community, and RD Long compensates Heartwood for their efforts. Items are inspected for usability, returned to service whenever possible or recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
